Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi” – Rome
In 2021 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation produced, together with Edizioni PIEMME, the book “Mille Meraviglie. Viaggio alla scoperta dell’Italia” (A thousand wonders. A journey to discover Italy), featuring the character Geronimo Stilton. The book was initially produced in four languages (English, French, Spanish and Italian), in collaboration with Atlantyca Entertainment for the international editions. It was distributed to the Italian diplomatic-consular network as a tool for describing and promoting Italy among children and as additional material for teaching Italian abroad. Publications have also been, or are being, produced in other languages: Chinese, Bulgarian, Portuguese and Ukrainian.
As a gesture to welcome the most fragile victims of the ongoing conflict, the Farnesina, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Kyiv, has decided to hand out copies of the book, in the Ukrainian language, to all Ukrainian pupils in Italian nursery, primary and secondary schools. It has organised a symbolic ceremony for handing out the books in two Italian schools, in Rome and Bergamo.
The first event will take place at 11:00 on Wednesday 26 October 2022 at the Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi” (Via Tropea no. 26, Rome). It will be attended by the Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Pasquale Terracciano, and the Deputy Director General for the Promotion of the Country System, Cecilia Piccioni, representing the Farnesina; the Headmaster of the Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi”, Alessandro Antoccia, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Italy, Yaroslav Melnyk, and the Coordinator of the “Roma Sud” Group of the Civil Defence corps, Alessandro Angeli. Geronimo Stilton, the mouse journalist very much loved by children all over the world – a brainchild of Elisabetta Dami – will also be present.
Reporters and photo-video operators may attend the event in person by applying for accreditation by 16:00 of Tuesday 25 October via email, to be sent to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. + 39 06/3691-3432 or 8573), attaching:
- an identity document;
- a letter by the newspaper/media network they work for, or, alternatively, a press card;
- a Note Verbale by the Rome-based Embassy of the country of the media network they represent (for representatives of the foreign press).
Accredited press staff may show up at the Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi”, Via Tropea, no.26, from 10:15 to 10:45.
An FFP 2 face mask is required.
