PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
On Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 December 2022 the Farnesina will once again be hosting the Conference of Italian Ambassadors in the World. This year’s topic will be “Italian diplomacy in the service of the country in a changing world”. The event will bring together over 100 heads of Italian diplomatic missions throughout the world.
The Conference will provide an opportunity to discuss the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and its diplomatic-consular network, and the tools available to them, in supporting Italy in promoting our national interests in the world, in line with Euro-Atlantic principles and values.
The proceedings will take place behind closed doors. Some sessions, however, will be open to media participation (photographers and camera operators in the International Conference Room; journalists in the Aldo Moro Room with audio-video links). They will also be streamed on the Farnesina’s YouTube channel.
Wednesday 21 December:
10.00–10.45 – Opening Session with addresses by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the Secretary-General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi.
11:20–11:50 – Keynote speech by the President of the European Parliament, the Hon. Roberta Metsola.
12:30–13:30 – Session on “Italian foreign policy goals”
Addresses by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the Chairs of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Chamber of Deputies, the Hon. Giulio Tremonti, and of the Senate, Senator Stefania Craxi.
Thursday 22 December:
09:00–10:30 – Session on “Innovative instruments for economic diplomacy and growth”, with addresses by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Minister for Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, and the Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.
10:50–13:30 – Session on “Italy’s global appeal”, with addresses by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Minister for Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, the Minister for University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, and the Minister for Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano. The session will end with a short award ceremony for the “Mama Sofia” scholarships set up in memory of Ambassador Luca Attanasio.
15:00–15:45 – Addresses by the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi.
Journalists, photographers and camera crews interested in following the sessions open to the media should apply for accreditation no later than 17:00 of Tuesday 20 December, by email to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06/3691-3432-8573-3078). They should attach: an identity document, a letter from their media organisation and, for representatives of foreign media organisations, a Note Verbale by the Rome-based Embassy of the country of the media organisation they represent.
For applications to set up satellite positions, the registration numbers and make and model of the vehicles should be submitted by email to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it no later than Monday 19 December 2022.
For the Conference, the police authorities have put in place measures to restrict vehicle traffic and the use of parking spaces in the vicinity of the Farnesina. In particular, parking on Via Macchia della Farnesina is prohibited.

To attend the address by the Prime Minister, from 13:30 up to, and no later than, 14:15.
Media representatives are advised to wear FFP2 masks.
Disclosing the aforesaid personal data grants the authorisation of treating said data pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) to the Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (the data controller) exclusively for professional purposes and/or purposes related to the event in question.
