“Italy and the Western Balkans: Growth and Integration”

Objectives, tools and opportunities for the Italian Economic System

Trieste – 24 January 2023, 9:30 a.m.

 

The National Conference “Italy and the Western Balkans: Growth and Integration” (“L’Italia e i Balcani Occidentali: crescita e integrazione” ) will take place on Tuesday 24 January 2023 from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Trieste Convention Center in Trieste.

The initiative is aimed at promoting Italy’s role in the Western Balkans, which is a foreign policy priority for the new Government, as well as the process of European integration of such countries.

No live streaming will be available. Therefore, the Conference, which is completely open to the press, may be followed by photographers, television operators and journalists in the Press Room, where a closed-circuit audio/video connection will be set up.

The Conference, which includes an introductory session, will be opened by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who will be introduced by the Undersecretary at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, Sandra Savino.

The President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, the President of Italy’s Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, and the Mayor of Trieste, Roberto Dipiazza, will also greet the attendees.

The conference will take place as follows:

  • Panel I – The objectives of the Italy-Western Balkans Partnership
  • Panel II – Tools and opportunities for the Country Economic System
  • Panel III – The Role of the Italian production system
  • Panel IV – International instruments to support economic growth

During the event, mayors Rodolfo Ziberna and Samo Turel will present the project “Go! 2025 Nova Gorica and Gorizia – European Capital of Culture 2025”, a historic achievement for cross-border cultural cooperation between the two cities and a great opportunity for the entire territory.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will close the Conference.

At the end of the event, Antonio Tajani will hold a press conference in the Press Room of the Trieste Convention Center (TCC).

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in covering the Conference may request accreditation by sending an e-mail to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 – 8573 or 3078) no later than Saturday 21 January:

For representatives of the Italian press:

  • copy of an identity document
  • letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.

For representatives of foreign press organisations not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
  • Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.

For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the accreditation request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.

Accreditation will be valid for the event and for the press conference of Antonio Tajani.

Please note that on the day of the event (24/01/2023) it will not be possible to accept new requests for accreditation, unless in case of unexpected replacements.

In the case of requests for the positioning of satellite equipment, the number plates and model of such equipment must be communicated by e-mail to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it  no later than Saturday 21 January 2023.

Press badges may be collected (in person, upon presentation of a valid identity document) on 24 January at the Press Accreditation Desk, located in Warehouse 27 of the Trieste Convention Center (TCC), as follows:

Photographers/cameramen

  • from 8.15 a.m. to 9.15 a.m. (to follow the introductory session)
  • from 10.00 a.m. to 3.45 p.m.                       (to follow the panels and the closing session)

Journalists

  • from 8.15 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. (to follow the conference from the press room)

 

The use of FFP2 masks is encouraged.
