PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
Ministerial Meeting on the Western Balkans
Rome – 3 April 2023
On Monday 3 April 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the Ministerial Meeting on the Western Balkans will take place in Rome. The meeting will be chaired by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and will be attended by the EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström, in his role as President-in-Office of the Council of the European Union, and the Foreign Ministers of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
The initiative is in line with Italy’s renewed role as a leading player in the Western Balkans and aims to foster dialogue and regional cooperation, as well as to relaunch the European integration process of the countries in the region.
The first part of the event will take place at Villa Madama and will be divided into two sub-sections:
- “European integration process of Western Balkans: the way forward”
- “EU-Western Balkans: enhancing together our cooperation”
In the afternoon, the proceedings will continue at the Farnesina with the Conference “New vision for the Western Balkans: EU accession and regional security” organised by Istituto Affari Internazionali and Osservatorio Balcani, Caucaso e Transeuropa. Concurrently, two expert round tables on climate change and cultural heritage conservation and on technological innovation in the agri-food sector will be held.
The entire event will not be open to the press and no live streaming will be provided.
At the end of the first part of the event, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Deputy Prime Minister Tajani will hold a press point at the Farnesina, in the Aldo Moro Room.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in covering the press point may apply for accreditation by sending their request by no later than Saturday 1 April to the following e-mail address accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 –3078, 8210 or 8573), attaching the following:
For representatives of the Italian press:
- copy of an identity document
- letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
- Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented (only if not previously sent).
Foreign press representatives already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs should send a request for accreditation with a copy of an identity document attached.
Accredited Press may enter the Farnesina from the main entrance, left side, on 3 April from 1:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Submitting the above-mentioned personal data means authorising the use thereof in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679) by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the data controller, for strictly professional purposes and/or purposes related to the performance of the event in question.
