“The 106th Giro d’Italia: A Showcase for Italian Know-How” – Farnesina, 2 May 2023
On Tuesday 2 May 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the event “The 106th Giro d’Italia: A Showcase for Italian Know-How” will be held at the Farnesina, in the International Conference Hall.
The event will be opened by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani. Other speakers will include the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, the President of RCS, Urbano Cairo, the President of Italian Trade Agency – ICE, Matteo Zoppas, and the Chair of the Expo 2030 Promoting Committee, Amb. Giampiero Massolo.
Vincenzo Nibali, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 2013 and 2016, is also expected to participate. Sports journalist Lia Capizzi will moderate the speeches.
The event intends to present the activities carried out by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with Italian Trade Agency – ICE to promote “Made in Italy” during major sporting events of international importance such as the Giro d’Italia, a showcase to promote the discovery of our Country highlighting the outstanding features of the local areas crossed by the Giro, ranging from Industrial Districts to food and wine, and artistic and cultural heritage. Great attention will also be devoted to Rome’s candidacy to host Expo 2030, in the wake of the initiatives aimed at highlighting Italy’s strong capacity and experience in the organisation and management of major international events.
The meeting will be streamed live on the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ YouTube channel.
Both journalists, photographers and cameramen will be able to follow the event in person. Please note that journalists will be seated in the International Conference Hall until the seats reserved for the accredited press are all taken. After that, it will be possible to follow the event from the Sala Aldo Moro, which will be set up as a listening room.
The speeches will be translated into English.

For representatives of the Italian press:
- Copy of an identity document;
- Letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- Copy of an identity document;
- Letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
- Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.
Foreign press representatives already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs should send a request for accreditation with a copy of an identity document attached.
Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may enter the Farnesina from the main entrance, left side, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on 2 May.
