PPRD Med launch event – “Prevention, Preparedness and Response to natural and man-made disasters”

Farnesina, 5 June 2023

 

From 5 to 7 June the Farnesina will host in the International Conference Hall a High-Level Panel on “Cambiamento Climatico, Protezione Civile e Protezione Umana-Verso un’ Efficiente Cooperazione Euro-Mediterranea” (Climate Change, Civil Protection and Human Protection – Towards Efficient Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation), the launch event of the PPRD Med (“Prevention, Preparedness and Response to natural and man-made disasters”), the second meeting of the UfM Regional Platform on Civil Protection, and technical subgroups to explore the possibilities for collaboration between countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Around 120 people are expected to attend.

The event on 5 June will be open to the press. It will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Nasser Kamel, and the Director General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), Maciej Popowski, will speak at the opening session.

The proceedings of 5 June may be followed directly in the International Conference Hall by photographers and TV crews and in closed circuit – in the salle d’écoute (Aldo Moro Room) – by journalists.

Before the opening session begins, there will be a photo opportunity.

The event will not be broadcast via streaming.

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in covering the proceedings scheduled for 5 June may apply for accreditation by sending their request by Saturday 3 June at 5:00 p.m. to the following e-mail address: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06/3691-3432 or 8573), attaching the following:

 

For representatives of Italian press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document
  • letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.

 

For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
  • Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.

 

For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.

 

Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may enter the Farnesina from the main entrance, left side, on 5 June from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
