Closing of the Inaugural Assembly of the new General Council of Italians Abroad

On 19 June 2023, the inaugural assembly of the new CGIE – General Council of Italians Abroad – opened in the International Conference Hall of the Farnesina.

 

The General Council of Italians Abroad is the advisory body to the Italian Government and Parliament on major issues of interest to Italians abroad and meets at least once a year. Among its many functions, the CGIE aims at promoting and facilitating the development of the living conditions of Italian communities abroad and strengthening their connection with Italy, as well as ensuring the most effective protection of the rights of Italians abroad, facilitating the maintenance of their cultural and linguistic identity and promoting their economic and commercial initiatives. Composed of 63 members, 20 of whom are appointed by the government and 43 elected to represent Italian communities, the CGIE is chaired by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

 

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will speak at the closing of the CGIE Plenary Assembly scheduled for Friday, 23 June, at 12:00 p.m.

 

The event will be streamed live on the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation YouTube channel.

 

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending the closing session on Friday 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. may apply for accreditation by sending a request by tomorrow, Thursday, 22 June, to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 -3078, 8210 or 8573), attaching the following:

 

For representatives of Italian press organisations:

  • copy of an identity document
  • letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.

 

For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
  • Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented (only if not previously sent).

 

For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.

 

Accredited Press may enter the Farnesina from the main entrance, left side, on 23 June, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
