Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani will hold a press conference at the Coldiretti Collection Centre in Nepi on Monday 3 June 2024 at 4:00 p.m. to announce the results of the Food for Gaza initiative’s technical round table and to present the first batch of humanitarian aid collected for the population of Gaza.

The presentation will also be attended by representatives of FAO, WFP, FICROSS and the Italian Protection Department (Protezione Civile), which are partners of the Food for Gaza initiative. The collected food and medical supplies will then be loaded and sent to Gaza.

Since 7 October 2023, Italy has been at the forefront of responding to the humanitarian emergency in the Gaza Strip. Since then, the Italian Government has provided a series of aid packages totalling EUR 55 million. One such initiative is “Food for Gaza”, launched by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Tajani to offer concrete food security and health aid to Palestinian civilians. The total contribution for the initiative currently stands at EUR 30 million.

NOTE: a media shuttle service will be provided, departing from Piazzale della Farnesina at 2:30 p.m. and returning from Nepi at the end of the event; please indicate whether you are interested in using the shuttle service in your accreditation request.

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending the event may apply for accreditation by sending a request by Monday 3 June at 10:00 a.m. to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 – 8573 – 3078 or 8210), with a copy to relazioniesterne@coldiretti.it attaching the following:

For representatives of Italian press organisations:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.

For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
  • Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.

For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.

Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may report to the Coldiretti warehouse in Via dell’industria, 11 – Zona industriale Settevene, Nepi (VT) on 3 June 2024 from 3:30 p.m.
