The Conference will be attended by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy and President of the Interministerial Committee for Space and Aerospace Research Policies (COMINT), Adolfo Urso; the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano; the Undersecretary of State to the Prime Minister’s Office, Alfredo Mantovano, and the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Innovation of Congo, Delphine Edith Emmanuel Adouki; the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation of Ghana, Ophelia Mensah;, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Daniel Nivagara, and the Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of Somalia, Mohamed Adam Moalim.
The Italy-Africa Space Conference is the operational follow-up in the space sector to the Italy-Africa Summit of January 2024 and aims to start a bilateral and multilateral dialogue with African countries having space capabilities, in order to identify new areas of cooperation within the broader framework of the Mattei Plan.
The debate will focus on three fundamental pillars: education and training; space applications and services for a sustainable future; international partnerships. Particular emphasis will be laid on the leadership position Italy enjoys internationally in the space field, thanks to its complete range of products and skills in the sector, and to the vision of which our country is the bearer in all multilateral fora. The Conference aims to turn the spotlight on the importance of space diplomacy as part of the growth diplomacy to promote the advancement of research and innovation, to the benefit of both Italy and emerging economies.
