PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
Event announcing ‘Italy’s participation as Guest of Honour in the 2026 Guadalajara International Book Fair’.
(Foreign Ministry, 27 March 2025)
On Thursday, 27 March 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Aldo Moro Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Minister Antonio Tajani will open the event announcing Italy’s participation as guest of honour in the 2026 Guadalajara International Book Fair.
The Guadalajara Book Fair, with over 900,000 visitors and more than 2,700 publishers from 64 countries that attended the 2024 edition, is one of the most important publishing fairs globally, as well as the main one in the Spanish-speaking world. The presence of our country as guest of honour, for the second time after the 2008 edition, will place Italy at the centre of a market that counts more than 300 million potential readers, whose interest in Italian publishing is growing rapidly.
The event will also highlight the action of the Foreign Ministry, jointly with the Ministry of Culture, the International Trade Agency (ITA), the Book and Reading Centre and the Italian Publishers’ Association, for the internationalisation of Italian publishing, the country’s leading cultural industry.
The event will also be attended by the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, the President and the Director of the Guadalajara Book Fair, Trinidad Padilla and Marisol Schulz, the ITA President, Matteo Zoppas, Mexico’s Ambassador to Italy, Carlos Garcia de Alba, and the President of the Italian Publishers Association, Innocenzo Cipolletta.
