PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
Inauguration of five new plaques in the “Garden of the Righteous of the Farnesina”

On Thursday 23 April 2026 at 12:00 p.m., the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the President of the Gariwo Foundation, Gabriele Nissim, will inaugurate five new plaques dedicated to the Righteous of the Farnesina, located along the avenue in front of the Ministry, already known as the Avenue of the Righteous.
The following individuals will be commemorated on this occasion: Francesco Babuscio Rizzo, Piero De Masi, Giorgio Giacomelli, Vito Positano and Tito Spoglia.
The names were selected by an ad hoc committee established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), which identified former MAECI personnel who distinguished themselves through acts of exceptional courage and protection of others. The initiative was launched at the instigation of the GARIWO Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose mission includes the creation of sites dedicated to individuals who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to justice and human rights.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen wishing to cover the ceremony are kindly requested to apply for accreditation no later than 5:00 p.m. on 22 April, by e-mail to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 3078 – 8210 or 8573), as follows:
For representatives of the Italian press organisations:
– copy of identity document,
– letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter;
– copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
– a copy of the identity document,
– letter from the newspaper of affiliation,
– Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.
For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.
Accredited journalists may present themselves directly at Piazzale della Farnesina at 11:30 a.m.
Submitting the above-mentioned personal data means authorising the use thereof in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679) by the Unit for Communication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the data controller, for strictly professional purposes and/or purposes related to the performance of the event in question.
