Third National Conference on Development Cooperation
(Auditorium della Conciliazione and Corsie Sistine di Santo Spirito in Sassia, 26 and 27 May 2026)
On Tuesday 26 May and Wednesday 27 May, the third National Conference on Development Cooperation will be held in Rome – at the Auditorium della Conciliazione and Corsie Sistine di Santo Spirito in Sassia – which, pursuant to Italian Law 125/2014, is convened every three years by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to encourage the participation of citizens in the definition of development cooperation policies.
The Conference, called CO-OPERA 2026, which will be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be an important opportunity to evaluate and make known to the general public the priorities and initiatives of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. It will also be an opportunity to discuss, propose and stimulate all the actors who contribute to composing the Italian development cooperation system.
The event includes a first session, at 10.00 a.m., entitled “La grande Famiglia della cooperazione italiana allo sviluppo – fare squadra INSIEME” (The great Family of Italian development cooperation – teaming TOGETHER) and moderated by the RAI journalist, Giorgia Cardinaletti.
The thematic sessions at the Corsie Sistine will follow, on “Valorizzare le esperienze, immaginare il futuro della Cooperazione Italiana” (Enhancing experiences, imagining the future of Italian Cooperation) and on “I 10 anni di AICS in un mondo in cambiamento” (The 10 years of AICS in a changing world), both opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for Development Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli.
The Conference will continue on 27 May, starting at 10.00 a.m., at the Corsie Sistine with a plenary session dedicated to “Educazione e conoscenza alla base di crescita e sviluppo” (Education and knowledge at the base of growth and development), followed by other thematic sessions.
At 3.00 p.m., at the Auditorium della Conciliazione, the fourth and last plenary session “La Cooperazione italiana per il Piano Mattei” (Italian cooperation for the Mattei Plan) will be held, which will be closed with an interview by journalist Giorgia Cardinaletti with Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli, concluding the work of CO-OPERA 2026.
