Event dedicated to “Tourism of Roots”
(Farnesina, 14 June 2026)

On Sunday 14 June 2026, the Farnesina will host an event dedicated to “Tourism of Roots”, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and the Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi.

The initiative aims to bring together over eighty million Italian descendants worldwide, encouraging them to rediscover the places of their origins and thereby promote the development of Italy’s local territories.

For the first time, the event will bring together the various stakeholders involved in Tourism of Roots: the 800 participating mayors are invited, alongside institutional representatives, businesses, and all Italian Honorary Consuls worldwide, who will be in Rome for their annual meeting.

The event will be fully open to the press, according to the detailed programme below:

  • Pre-event:
  • from 7:00 p.m. Parade and performances by musical groups (bands, ensembles, choirs) awarded in the 2026 competition for the promotion of folk and amateur music;
  • from 7:00 p.m. CONI Fair Play Games featuring seven groups of young Italian-descendant athletes (aged 11–14) from CONI foreign delegations
    • (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, USA, Venezuela), who will take part in a multi-sport activity programme;
  • from 7:30 p.m. Culinary demonstration by Michelin-starred chef Alessandro Circiello and tasting session.
  • Event opening:
  • 8:00 p.m. Performance of the Italian national anthem by bands and choirs coordinated by Councillor Antonio Corsi;
  • from 8:05 p.m. Introduction by presenter Serena Autieri and addresses by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and the Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi;
  • 8:20 p.m. Segment dedicated to CONI athletes and address by the President of CONI, Luciano Buonfiglio;
  • followed by Further activities
  • approximately 9:30 p.m. End of the event.

Journalists, photographers and cameramen wishing to attend the event are kindly requested to register no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 12 June, by completing the registration form at https://portaleaccreditamento.esteri.it and uploading the required documentation.
Those who are already registered on the online portal and have received confirmation of their registration may access their profile and select participation in the event.

Badges must be collected in person at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, main entrance, left-hand side, from 6:40 p.m. to 7:40p.m.
