Launch event for Italy’s participation as Guest of Honour at the
2026 Guadalajara International Book Fair
(Farnesina, 17 July 2026)
On Friday 17 July 2026, from 12:00 p.m., in the International Conference Hall of the Farnesina, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, will present the programme for Italy’s participation as Guest of Honour at the 40th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, scheduled to take place from 28 November to 6 December.
Eighteen years after its last appearance as a guest country, Italy is once again taking centre stage at the world’s most important event dedicated to Spanish-language books, with a presence that will showcase the excellence of Italian publishing and culture.
The programme will also feature speeches by the President of the Italian Trade Agency, Matteo Zoppas; the President of the Italian Publishers’ Association (Associazione Italiana Editori, AIE), Innocenzo Cipolletta; the President of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, José Trinidad Padilla López; the General Director of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), Marisol Schulz; and the Mexican Ambassador to Italy, Genaro Lozano.
The event will conclude with a discussion between the General Director of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), Marisol Schulz, and two writers from the Italian delegation, Olga Campofreda and Viola Ardone, offering a first glimpse of the rich cultural programme that will characterise Italy’s participation as Guest of Honour at the Guadalajara International Book Fair.
Artists taking part in the Fair’s cultural programme, such as Mario Biondi, Paolo Fresu and Ada Montellanico, will also be in attendance.
The proceedings will be preceded by a group photo at 12:00 p.m.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen wishing to attend the event may submit their accreditation request by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday 16 July, by registering at https://portaleaccreditamento.esteri.it, and uploading the required documentation.

Badges must be collected in person at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, central entrance, left side, on Friday 17 July, between 11:15 and 11:45 a.m.
