China calls on Italy for archaeological heritage defence

The know-how and professional expertise of Italian archaeologists to protect  Chinese cultural heritage. This is the objective of the workshop organized by the Consulate General in conjunction with the Italian Embassy in China in Chengdu, capital of the South-Easten province of Sichuan. The event, scheduled to take place  on 21 and 22 September, will be part of the Western China International Fair, where Italy is the Guest Country of Honour.  The workshop, which is entitled “Protecting cultural heritage and building and managing museums”, is financed through the “Italian way of life” programme, and will include seminars and fieldwork. It will present Italian best practices and technologies for the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage. It will also identify Italy as privileged partner for the requalification project of the Donghuamen archaeological site for which the Sichuan Department of Culture has already allocated substantial funding.
