The final of the second “Prepara il tuo futuro. Nuovi talenti della cucina italiana” (“Get your future ready. New Italian culinary talents”) competition will be held at The Kitchen Club in Madrid. It was organised by the Italian Embassy in association with Italy’s Tourist Board (Enit) and the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain (CCIS).
A prestigious jury, including Italian Ambassador Stefano Sannino, chef Ramò Freixana, the director of “Canal Cocina”, Mandi Ciriza, a journalist with “La luna de Metropoli” magazine, Alberto Luchini and chef Fabio Giacopelli, head of the Kitchen Techniques Course at ALMA (International School of Italian cuisine), will assess the candidates. They will judge on the basis of general knowledge of cooking, experience and potential to learn and develop Italian cuisine professionally. The six competitors all have wide experience in the catering industry in Spain. The two winners will gain entrance to the Culinary Programme – Unit 2 course that will start on 29 April next and run for 14 weeks at the renowned ALMA school in Colorno (Parma). They will also receive traineeships in leading Italian restaurants. Ambassador Sannino said: “We are very pleased with this second edition of the competition, where Italian public institutions cooperate with prestigious Spanish representatives from the culinary world, for which we are very grateful. We are especially happy that the project was organised with the cooperation of great Italian enterprises such as Pasta Garofalo and Reale Seguros. The success of the project’s first edition confirmed how important it is to continue to invest in young people, reinforcing links between our countries and promoting our values.”
The ItmakES Food&Wine project and “Prepara il Tuo Futuro” competition fare part of the Foreign Ministry’s “Italian Way of Life” strategy.
