Thanks to the Italian Institute of Culture, the puppets of the Rome-based theatre company Teatro Verde are in Tirana to participate in the International Puppet Festival. The show, “Bravo bravissimo!”, is a surreal theatrical piece combining memories, historical facts, cultural references and quotations with an all-Italian flavour. The show debuted in Moscow in 2008. Since then, it has toured the world – Romania, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Thailand, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Serbia – winning numerous awards along the way.
An unlikely presenter tries to “tame” an army of puppets, forcing them to perform demanding and very serious musical numbers from the Italian repertoire: from Rossini to Verdi, from Bellini to the de rigueur Neapolitan Tarantella. Tribute is also paid to international culture, from jazz standards to Italian-American vibes. A fantastically rocambolesque adventurefeaturing actors, puppets and dummies that are part of the vast range of this theatre company dedicated to children and families.
