Belgrade: old Serbian books published in Venice on show

To celebrate the 500th anniversary of the publication of the first Serbian books in Venice, the Serbian National Library in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade present the exhibition “Venetian Publishers of Serbian Books 1519-1824” curated by Vladimir Anđelković. Starting from the end of the 15th century, a large number of Serbian migrants started arriving in Venice, thus giving a impulse to the new cultural circles in which their books were freely published between 1518 and 1824. The exhibition, set up in the premises of the Serbian National Library in Belgrade, displays panels that tell the story of the publishing activities and the cooperation between Serbians and Venetians.
