At the Asia – Europe Foreign Ministers Meeting (ASEM) in Madrid, Undersecretary Ivan Scalfarotto met with the Secretary General of the ASEAN, Lim Jock Hoi. The talks focused on the regional security, the connectivity issue arising from the ASEAN Master Plan on Connectivity 2025, which sets forth projects worth up to 110 billion a year up to 2025, and preparing for the High-Level Dialogue on ASEAN-Italy Economic Relations scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur next July.
“The Member States of the ASEAN, in aggregate terms, represent the world’s fifth-largest economy,” said Scalfarotto. He added: “In addition to the issue of trade, we witness growing interest for investments in both directions, with an overall stock worth approximately 6 billion euros.”
