Today began the visit of the Deputy Minister Del Re in Senegal, who had meetings with the President of the Republic, Macky Sall and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amadou Ba. The Deputy Minister discussed how Italy could contribute to the Senegalese government’s vision for the development of the country according to the “Plan Sénégal émergent” (PSE) and hoped for a strengthening of the already significant economic and commercial partnership between the two countries. With his interlocutors, Del Re also addressed issues related to migration flows from the region, expressing appreciation for the decisive role of the Senegalese diaspora in Italy (the second largest in Europe). Finally, the meetings allowed an exchange of views on the political situation and security issues of the Sahel, the sub-Saharan region and Libya.
The Deputy Minister also attended the signing of 4 bilateral agreements on development cooperation between the Ambassador of Italy, Paolo Venier and the Minister of Economy, Amadou Hott. Minister Hott expressed to the Deputy Minister the gratitude of Senegal for the 40 years of Italian cooperation in the country.
