São Paulo: Covid-19, rereading together the plague of Manzoni

promessi img2

A rereading of the pages on the plague of “I Promessi Sposi” (The Betrothed), never so tragically topical. This is the initiative of the Italian Cultural Institute of São Paulo, which has organized a virtual reading group on the Zoom application.

The appointment is for the morning of Friday starting from April 24, always at 10:00 am. Every Friday, Professor Carlo Molina will read in Italian a chapter of “The Betrothed” dedicated to the pestilence, and each of the members of the virtual group will then be able to speak, comment and ask questions. The readings are not only addressed to those who have a perfect command of Italian: participants will also be able to make use of a supporting version of Manzoni’s texts translated into Portuguese, which will be anticipated by email.

An opportunity to get closer to Manzoni’s masterpiece and to discover or rediscover a classic of Italian national literature.
