The Embassy of Italy in Bratislava, in collaboration with the Slovak Agro-Food Chamber SPPK and the Italian Federation of the Food Industry (Federalimentare), organised a webinar dedicated to food labelling and consumer protection in recent days.
The event, opened by the Italian Ambassador to Slovakia, Catherine Flumiani, and moderated by the spokesperson of the Slovak Agro-Food Chamber, Janka Holeciova, was attended by more than one hundred participants. Among them were representatives of the agri-food industry and Slovakian administrations, the leading supermarket chains operating in the country, and university students.
Speakers from Italy, Slovakia and Poland explored the challenges posed by the main labelling proposals currently under consideration at the EU level.
During the webinar, Italy expressed its support in favour of the Nutrinform Battery system. The System aims to provide consumers with more and better information to protect their health. It is based on scientifically sound and non-discriminatory criteria. The importance of a balanced diet, a healthy lifestyle and the role of traditional diets were also discussed.
