Over the last few days the Ambassador of Italy to Turkey, Giorgio Marrapodi, carried out his first mission to Istanbul and visited all the Italian institutions in the country, including the Consulate General, where he was welcomed by Consul General Elena Sgarbi and the Cultural Institute, where he was received by Director Salvatore Schirmo. The Ambassador also visited the headquarters of ICE-Agency for the promotion and internationalization of Italian companies, led by Riccardo Landi.
In each meeting, the Ambassador thanked the staff who work every day for our country, with the spirit and dedication that have led to many positive results in recent years. He also urged again everybody to rise up to the challenges of the coming months, which are not only related to the pandemic. During his first mission, the Ambassador also had meetings with the Italian and Turkish business world operating in the city, which accounts for one third of Turkish GDP and where most Italian investments, including financial ones, are concentrated.
“Italy and Turkey – Ambassador Marrapodi underlined – are linked by a millenary tradition of economic and cultural exchanges. Thanks to these ongoing contacts, the two countries can now boast excellent bilateral relations, with a level of trade that in 2021 set an absolute record, thus bearing witness to their great and lively mutual interest”.
