The Italian Consul in Erbil, Michele Camerota, took part in the inauguration of the monument dedicated by the authorities in Qaladze, in Iraqi Kurdistan, to the memory of the compatriot Graziella Bronzini, engaged in humanitarian work in that territory and who passed away in 2016.

During the ceremony, Consul Camerota, who contributed to the initiative together with his staff, said he was “very proud to participate in this celebration that honours a strong and determined woman. With her civic passion, altruism and solidarity towards others, she is the best face of the values that Italy and Italians know how to offer.”

The Consulate thus put up a plaque next to the monument. The plaque reads:

“THE ITALIAN CONSULATE IN ERBIL JOINS THE AUTHORITIES IN QALADZE IN RECOGNIZING THE MEMORY OF THE COMPATRIOT GRAZIELLA BRONZINI FOR HER TIRELESS WORK IN FAVOUR OF THE KURDS AND THEIR CHILDREN, CONTRIBUTING TO STRENGTHEN THE BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP WITH ITALY AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF IVREA, ON THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TWINNING ESTABLISHED IN 1992. WITH THE DEEPEST GRATITUDE.”

Graziella Bronzini was a woman devoted to social justice and brotherhood among the people. In addition to the twinning between the municipality of Ivrea and the municipality of Qaladze, she was the promoter of many initiatives, including the construction of the city hospital in the 1990s.
