The new head office of the Consulate General of Italy in Curitiba (Brazil) was inaugurated today, 30 September. The ceremony, during which participants were allowed to visit the new venue, was attended by the Consul General, Salvatore Di Venezia, the Italian Ambassador to Brazil, Francesco Azzarello, the Deputy Governor of the State of Paranà, Darci Piana and the Mayor of Curitiba, Rafael Greca de Machedo. For the occasion, Farnesina Director-General for Italians Abroad, Luigi Maria Vignali, arrived from Italy. A number of representatives of the sizeable Italian community in the district, which consists of more than 130,000 fellow nationals, were in attendance too.
Purchased in November 2021 and set up in just over nine months, the new head office is entirely dedicated to consular services. Housed in a prestigious neighbourhood of the city, in a modern four-floor office building, it occupies the ground floor and the second floor. The building is equipped with the most modern and efficient security systems and is eco-friendly, since it features a water recycling and reuse system, solar panels on the roof and recharging plugs for electric bicycles and cars. The venue covers an area of 910 square metres and has been set up in accordance with the technical specifications indicated by the Farnesina.

On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Azzarello and Director-General Vignali met with the CGIE (General Council for Italians Abroad) members elected in Brazil and with the members of the Comites of the Curitiba district, which includes the Brazilian states of Paranà and Santa Catarina, as well as the Honorary Consular Representatives operating in the area.

The purchase of the new Consulate General headquarters in Curitiba, along with the relevant works conducted to adapt the venue, is part of a broader strategy aimed at rationalising and enhancing the value of state property abroad (which the Farnesina deems extremely important), especially consular offices, so as to improve the quality of the services provided to our compatriots.
