From Rome to Pompeii, from Venice to the Amalfi Coast, from the Dolomite Mountains to the Tuscan hills: landmarks, historical city centres, archaeological sites and landscapes are portrayed in marvel-studded photographs of Italy. Tiziana D’Angelo, the Italian Consul General in Shanghai, opened the “UN.IT. Unesco Italia” photography exhibition at Shanghai’s People’s Square Metro Station: an event that forms part of the celebrations for the Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism 2022.

The exhibition project, organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai in partnership with the Italian Consulate General in Shanghai, Shanghai Metro, and the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, displays art photos of Italy’s unique cultural and natural heritage. The People’s Square show exhibits 29 art photos, one for each one of the first 29 Italian sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. All the photographs are the work of renowned Italian photographers and, more specifically by: Olivo Barbieri, Gabriele Basilico, Luca Campigotto, Vincenzo Castella, Dario Coletti, Vittore Fossati, Gianni Berengo Gardin, William Guerrieri, Mimmo Jodice, Giuseppe Leone, Luciano Romano. A second project, again to be set up at Shanghai’s People’s Square Metro Station, will display another 29 art photos of 29 more Italian UNESCO World Heritage List sites.
