The Italian Embassy in Lisbon organised a meeting between Italian Economic System members and representatives of over 200 companies and entities interested in developing business opportunities and joint investments. President of the Confederation of Portuguese Business, António Saraiva took part in the event and gave a thorough analysis of the country’s economy.
The first part of the event called “Portugal: a process of green, innovative and digital expansion. Opportunities for Italian companies” involved a debate between Italian Ambassador Carlo Formosa and President Saraiva on the prospects for Italian companies that could result from the encouraging process of expansion of the Portuguese economy, the rapid advances being made in the energy and digital transitions, the fast pace of reforms linked to the local PNRR (national recovery and resilience plan) and the strong acceleration in opening up towards foreign markets and investments. The picture that emerged forecast 6.5% growth in Portuguese GDP for 2022 by the end of the year, one of the highest in Europe, with a new absolute record in bilateral trade of about 7 billion euros. Ambassador Formosa said that all this “portrays this market in an extremely attractive framework that our business system will certainly sound out with renewed interest”.
The event concluded with a meeting between over thirty Italian companies located in Portugal and the members of the Italian Economic system, including ICE-Agenzia and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Portugal to identify the main types of cooperation that could best support Italian business and investment prospects in Portugal.
