The Italian Ambassador in Madrid, Riccardo Guariglia, visited “Fruit Attraction”, one of Europe’s main trade fairs in the fruit and vegetable sector held yearly in the Spanish capital. The Italian companies present at the 2022 edition are 72.
During the visit, Ambassador Guariglia emphasized how the large participation of Italian companies in “Fruit Attraction” is “not only useful to boost exports to Spain but also to other Countries,” as the Trade Fair is “a large and renowned international showcase”. In the visit, the Ambassador was accompanied by the new director of the ICE-Foreign Trade Agency in Madrid, Giovanni Bifulco.
In 2021, the commerce of fruit and vegetable products between Italy and Spain recorded an uptrend in both trade flows, growing by 2.6% in Spanish exports and by 9.5% in their imports of Italian products. Traditionally, the trade balance between Spain and Italy in this sector is positive for Spain; in 2021 the Spanish trade surplus amounted to 1.112 billion euros, outperforming past results. Spanish exports to Italy (worth 1.383 billion euros) are five times higher than the value of imports (271 million euros).
