Italy is the protagonist of the “Finnish Travel Gala 2022”, the annual showcase of the Finnish tourism industry. Italy was awarded the prestigious “International Destination of the Year” for the following reason: “What is Italy? Architectural wonders, artistic and handmade masterpieces, breathtaking operatic interpretations, cultural events, history, cuisine and wine, beaches, mountains, evocative landscapes, quiet villages and cities where life never stops. Is there anything not to be admired in Italy? A Country where you can always discover something new and interesting, and where to return to over and over again.”
The award, picked up by the Director of the ENIT Office in Stockholm and the Councillor of the Italian Embassy in Helsinki, bears witness to the general admiration of the Northern tourist for the beauties of Italy, as well as the attractiveness of the very broad Italian offer which makes Italy a privileged destination for the Finnish tourism industry. It is no coincidence that the “Finnish Travel Gala” is the most popular event organised annually by SMAL, a trade association of the national tourism sector with about 180 Finnish tour operators.
