On the occasion of the 73rd edition of the Sanremo Festival, which will be held from 7 to 11 February, the Italian Cultural Institute of Beijing has organised a song contest to promote the Italian music and language. The initiative is aimed at non-professional singers of any nationality who then have to perform, in Italian, one of the songs that participated in the previous 72 editions of the Sanremo Festival.
Both solo and duet performances may be executed. The Jury will consist of five members, at least three of whom will be professionals. Extra points will be awarded to those who perform a part of the song in Chinese. Contestants must submit a video of their performance lasting a minimum of two minutes and thirty seconds and a maximum of four minutes.
The competition will consist of two stages: the preliminary round and the finals. The finals, to which 12 singers will be admitted, will take place in Beijing at the Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute and the performance will be accompanied by a live musical orchestra. Winners will be decided based on the total score they receive from the Jury, media representatives and the attending audience. Contestants must submit their applications by 28 January. The winner will receive a return air ticket to Italy. The first prize is a return air ticket to Italy. Prizes will be awarded to the first three classified.
