Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi, who has been on a mission to Jordan since yesterday, met today in Amman with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, the Minister of Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, the Minister of Culture, Haifa Najjar, and the Minister of Tourism of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Akram Al-Quaisi.
During the bilateral talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the main regional issues were addressed also in light of the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel, as well as defence cooperation, the submission of the Rome Expo 2030 candidacy and the initiatives for the 75th anniversary of Italy-Jordan diplomatic relations scheduled for 2024.
The talks with the other Ministers focused on the excellent bilateral relations and cooperation in the cultural sphere. Italy contributes with archaeological missions and cooperation projects to the conservation of several areas including the UNESCO site of Petra. Economic relations were also discussed in depth, as well as an increase in tourist flows between the two countries.
