Italian pianist and composer Stefano Bollani will perform for the first time in Tirana on 29 January. His “Piano solo” concert is organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in cooperation with the Tirana National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
This will be a premiere for the artist, who considers music a fun game to be reinvented time after time. In his concerts, Bollani lets himself be guided by the music and the audience, captivating his listeners by switching from being lyrical to comical, extemporising, de- and re-constructing melodies from a seemingly endless repertoire ranging from popular Italian songs, American jazz classics, Brazilian and other South American music, arias from Italian operas, 20th century classical composers and his own compositions.
Stefano Bollani is an eclectic, classically trained artist and experienced jazz musician, as well as a composer, creator and television presenter. He has performed with symphonic orchestras such as the Milan Filarmonica della Scala, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris and on several occasions with the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia, conducted by James Conlon, Daniel Harding and Antonio Pappano, among others. In the meantime, he has continued to play jazz, recording CDs solo or with many travelling companions. In recent years, he has also successfully conducted radio and television programmes such as Via dei Matti numero 0 (on Rai3), written and presented together with his wife Valentina Cenni.
