As part of the efforts to promote and enhance in Poland the volumes recently produced by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ambassador of Italy in Warsaw, Luca Franchetti Pardo, in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute of Krakow, donated about fifty copies of the Ukrainian edition of the book Pimpa travels through Italy to the children of the UNICEF Centre for Education and Development in Warsaw.

The hub was set up by the United Nations in 2022 following the Russian attack on Ukraine to assist Ukrainian refugee mothers and children by providing information, educational opportunities, Polish language classes and psychological support. According to UNICEF, 75,000 people have been helped at the Centre.

Ambassador Franchetti Pardo noted that “the initiative, which is part of Italy’s broader efforts to support Kiev, and especially children and young people, is intended to be a useful tool to foster education, as well as knowledge of Italy”.

UNICEF Country Coordinator in Poland, Rashed Mustafa, who led the visit to the hub, repeatedly thanked Italy for its constant and continuous support to the UNICEF centre. The donation of books for Ukrainian children is just one more testimony to such support.
