Czech Republic – Commemoration of Italian dead at Milovice cemetery

The ceremony for the commemoration of the more than 5,000 Italians who died during the First World War in the Milovice prison camp near Prague, opened to the accompaniment of the Italian and Czech national anthems. After the laying of the ceremonial floral wreaths, a mass was said in honour of the Italian dead, followed by a recital of the Minimo Bellunese choir. Italian ambassador Aldo Amati thanked the local authorities for the great respect reserved for the Italian cemetery, underscoring the importance of shared European values over nationalist egoism.
