The 2025 edition of the Elsa Morante Prize is now underway, this year ideally dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the death of the renowned Italian author.
The Prize jury, chaired by Dacia Maraini and composed of Marco Maria Cerbo, Enzo Colimoro, Lino Guanciale, David Morante, Tiuna Notarbartolo, Antonio Parlati, Alfredo Rapetti Mogol, Fiorenza Sarzanini, and Teresa Triscari, has unanimously selected the three winning books for the Elsa Morante Youth Prize categories. These works will be read by thousands of young readers from Italian schools both in Italy and abroad.
The winners are: “Resisti cuore” (Mondadori) by Alessandro D’Avenia, awarded the Elsa Morante Youth Prize – Knowledge, “Lucciole, squaletti e un po’ di pastina” (Salani) by Donatella Di Pietrantonio, awarded the Elsa Morante Youth Prize – Fiction, “Sulla mia terra” (De Agostini) by Francesca Mannocchi, awarded the Elsa Morante Youth Prize – History.
Around ten thousand students, including pupils from the network of Italian schools affiliated with the Italian Education System in the World, will have the opportunity to read the books and vote for their favourite. The winning book will receive an additional accolade: the Elsa Morante School Prize.
Reading groups from both Italy and abroad still have the opportunity to join the judging panel by registering before the end of April. To participate, send a confirmation email to: associazionepremioelsamorante@gmail.com.
One thousand students will attend the final event live, which will take place on 13 May at the Auditorium of Città della Scienza in Naples. The event will also be livestreamed on the Facebook and Instagram channels of the Elsa Morante Prize.
