The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Maria Tripodi, today welcomed Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, to the Farnesina. Minister Al Marri is visiting Italy to attend the Italy–UAE Investment Forum “Investopia Europe”, which will take place in Milan on 16 May.
The meeting confirmed the excellent state of bilateral economic relations and paved the way for the upcoming event in Milan, which will feature over 60 high-profile speakers, including institutional representatives and entrepreneurs. For the first time, the forum will also host an intensive afternoon B2B session, offering a concrete opportunity to launch new collaborations and joint business initiatives.
Both parties agreed on the importance of continuing to support bilateral trade, which in 2024 reached €10 billion — a 13% increase — also through investments in infrastructure and connectivity, such as the IMEC corridor, which aims to increasingly connect India, the Middle East, and Europe via the strategic Gulf region. Finally, Undersecretary Tripodi expressed her appreciation for the UAE’s support of Italy’s efforts in the Middle East and Africa, with particular reference to the Mattei Plan.
