A rapid and concerted effort is needed from the political forces to map out a credible solution to the crisis that is peaceful and democratic.

Like many international partners, Italy remains strongly committed to supporting Libya in its democratic transition, but the Libyans must take their destiny into their own hands, and refrain from acts of inadmissible violence that only compromise their future. The enormous sacrifices of the 17 February revolution must not have been in vain. Tomorrow Libyans will be asked to vote for their constitutional assembly and must seize this opportunity to resume the path of institutional and economic reconstruction”.
