Today and tomorrow, 26 and 27 June 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, will be on an official diplomatic mission to Arabia Saudita.
The visit, which falls on the 90th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, aims to further consolidate the strategic dialogue between Rome and Riyadh that kicked off with the signing of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding in Al Ula in January 2021.
During the mission, Minister Di Maio will have talks with the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, to discuss bilateral relations and key international and regional political dossiers, the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the situation in Yemen, and the political process in Libya. Together with Saudi Finance Minister Al-Jadaan, Minister Di Maio will co-chair the works of the 12th Meeting of the Saudi-Italian Joint Commission and, with Investment Minister Al-Falih, will co-chair the subsequent Italian-Saudi Investment Forum. Both events will explore bilateral cooperation opportunities, especially in the field of culture, space, energy, tourism, and infrastructure, also through the presence of Italian companies holding sizable interests in the Country.
