G8/G20 – Young Ambassadors recruit Italian delegations

Recruitment has begun for Italian delegations of the Young Ambassadors Society (YAS) who will take part in the official events parallel to the G8/G20 in Russia and Australia. With the support of the MFA, YAS is in search of 5 talented students or young professionals to represent Italy at the “Y8/Y20” meant to mirror the real G8/G20 and that will include the drafting of a Final Communiqué representing the position of the young people on the concerns of global leaders and that will be submitted to the Heads of State of the G8/G20 countries. The first event will be held in Moscow from 14 to 17 May 2014, and discussions will include four major thematic areas: international security (including counter-terrorism, illegal drugs, etc.); international development cooperation (health, HIV/AIDS, new infectious diseases, food security, education and MDGs); energy security and climate change; and information security and availability. The second event, the Y20, is to be held in Sydney from the 12th to the 15th. The international summit will host 120 youth delegations from the 20 member countries, who will have a dual focus: to influence the present and shape the future. Key themes will include growth and job creation, global citizenship and sustainable development.
