The photography exhibition “Obiettivo Italia” opened on 10 September at the Italian Cultural Institute in Guatemala City, and will run until 2 October.

The exhibition aims to document the traces of the deep-rooted and diverse Italian presence in Guatemala, reflecting on the deep bond between the two countries on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Italian Cultural Institute there. The exhibition features 30 original photographs, the result of a competition open to professionals and amateurs, who were tasked with capturing traces, aspects, and moments of the bond between Italy and Guatemala in an original and thoughtful way.

The opening of the exhibition also saw the award ceremony for the winners, Luz Díaz Tinoco, Javier Barrientos, and Gretel Liberati, selected by a jury of prominent figures in the local cultural community. The evening was enriched by the musical performance of Guatemalan singer-songwriter Raúl Sosa, who performed a repertoire of famous Italian songs for voice and guitar.
