The official presentation and first training session of the “Intellectual Property Education Plan” project, born from an alliance between public and private entities to support SMEs in growing and protecting their products and brands, took place yesterday in Rome at the headquarters of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA).
The initiative is the result of a synergistic collaboration between public and private entities – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (MIMIT), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF), the Guardia di Finanza, (Inland Revenue Police), Amazon, and Confindustria – and aims to provide essential tools and knowledge to address the challenges of globalization and protect the excellence of Made in Italy products worldwide.
The IP Education Plan is a training program consisting of eight monthly webinars, held in Italian. Each meeting will focus on a strategic market for exporting SMEs, such as Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, India, the United Kingdom, the United States, Turkey, and the European Union. The approach will be practical and legal, enriched by the participation of industry experts and first-hand accounts from companies. The topics covered will range from the protection of industrial property to the fight against counterfeiting, from the key characteristics of selected foreign markets to the tools available for safe access.
Participation in this program is important for companies seeking to acquire strategic skills to protect their products and brands in an increasingly competitive global environment. The webinars will provide insight into the specific regulatory aspects of each market, identify available support tools, and take effective action to capitalize on internationalization opportunities and ensure the best positioning of Italian products abroad.
The project is led by a vast network of experts from leading institutions in the field of IP protection: the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), the Central Inspectorate for the Protection of Quality and the Repression of Fraud in Agri-food Products (ICQRF), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Guardia di Finanza, and Amazon, which reaffirms its commitment to supporting these institutions in promoting and protecting Made in Italy excellence worldwide. Along this path, Amazon will support small and medium-sized enterprises in discovering and learning about intellectual property protection tools and training initiatives to support the more than 20,000 Italian SMEs which, thanks to Amazon, already deliver over three million Made in Italy products to customers worldwide.
The initiative will also benefit from the support of the Foreign Ministry’s and ITA’s foreign network, which will make available ITA desks abroad, agricultural experts, and Guardia di Finanza experts at embassies. This broad partnership aims to provide a comprehensive and integrated view of the opportunities and risks associated with IP and internationalization, with the ultimate goal of effectively protecting Made in Italy products worldwide.
