Tajani speaks with MPs departing from Israel: “We are calling for the release of all other Italians”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, has just held a telephone conversation with the four Italian parliamentarians of the Flotilla who were detained by Israel and released overnight. Senator Marco Croatti, MEP Annalisa Corrado, Deputy Arturo Scotto, and MEP Benedetta Scuderi were taken into custody while approaching the Gaza coast. Assisted by the Embassy of Italy in Tel Aviv, the parliamentarians are now at Ben Gurion Airport, preparing to return to Italy. Tajani stated that “the staff of our Embassy are requesting consular access from the Israeli authorities and calling for the immediate release of all activists”. The Embassy in Tel Aviv is also exploring the possibility of arranging a charter flight to Italy. Overnight, the Italian Ambassador Luca Ferrari spoke with all other Italian nationals involved, who are reported to be in good condition.
