The twenty-eighth edition of the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA) is currently taking place at the Palais des Expositions des Pins Maritimes in Algiers. Once again this year, Italy is represented by a high-quality and diverse delegation, coordinated by the Italian Cultural Institute of Algiers, in collaboration with the local Embassy, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Rome School.

Among the events that have already marked the Italian participation: “Pasolini reloaded” with Andrea Brazzoduro (PhD in Contemporary History, Sapienza University) and Lamine Amar-Khodja (Algerian director and screenwriter); a reflection on the Pordenonelegge festival with Alberto Garlini; “The professions of publishing” with literary agent Monica Malatesta; a presentation by translator Laura Pagliara; “Football, the years of lead and poetry” with Alberto Garlini; a lecture by writer Kahina Ait-Ouadour. 

Further contributions included: a conversation between Mario Calabresi and Alberto Garlini; a presentation by Silvia Nucini on podcast production; the presentation of “Il pozzo vale più del tempo” with Ginevra Lamberti; the lecture “The life of a small independent publishing house dedicated to women writers” by publisher Tiziana Elsa Prina; “Translating Maïssa Bey: voices beyond boundaries” with Barbara Sommovigo and author Maïssa Bey.
