WeBuild has been commissioned to carry out the expansion works of the Yacyretá hydropower plant. The project, financed by EBY, has a total value of USD 620 million.
The intervention, known as the Aña Cuá Project, entails the installation of three new turbines, which will increase Paraguay’s national generation capacity by 270 MW (around 10%), bringing the estimated annual output to 1,700 GWh.
The works respond to the steadily growing demand for electricity in Paraguay, which in 2024 registered an 18% increase compared with the previous year. The project will be implemented by the Aña Cuá WRT Consortium — composed of WeBuild (Italy), Rovella Carranza (Argentina) and Tecnoedil S.A. (Paraguay) — which was awarded the contract in 2019.
