Belgrade, Houston and Bangkok have been awarded the title of “Italian Creativity Capitals in the World 2026”. Now in its fourth edition, the Italian Creativity Capitals in the World award, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), aims to showcase the most outstanding initiatives of Italy’s diplomatic, consular, and cultural network in promoting Made in Italy abroad. The award celebrates Italian ingenuity and innovation, in close collaboration with the various components of the Sistema Italia, highlighting the dynamism of the diplomatic-consular network, Italian Cultural Institutes, and Italian Trade Agency offices worldwide in promoting Italian excellence.

The initiative also offered an opportunity for Italy’s foreign missions to develop projects marking the National Made in Italy Day, established on 15 April 2024.

Projects were selected by a panel comprising representatives from MAECI, the Ministry of Culture, and, for the first time, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.  Evaluation criteria focused on originality, coherence, and the ability to engage meaningfully with local communities.

In Belgrade, the project “Play with It”, proposed by the Embassy in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, will transform the Serbian capital into a hub of creativity ahead of Expo Belgrade 2027. The programme includes events dedicated to design, fashion, music, and technology, connected through the universal theme of play.

In Houston, the Consulate General’s initiative “Lots of Italy in Houston” will celebrate the contributions of Italians and Italian-Americans to the city’s cultural and scientific landscape, featuring an interactive app, school activities, and a series of city-wide initiatives.

In Bangkok, the project “Italia Reloaded”, led by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with the Embassy, will showcase Italy through two symbols of identity and sustainability – coffee and restoration – with events, workshops, and collaborations between businesses, institutions, and young people.

The fifth edition of the award will be launched in January 2026.
