Italy appreciates the “position of the Omani leadership, which encourages pluralism and respect for diversity, promotes dialogue with neighbours and contributes to stability in one of the world’s most complex scenarios”, was the comment by Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino in Muscat Oman, on the second leg of a mission to the Gulf that took her first to Kuwait.
4th Joint Commission
Opening the 4th Joint Commission, the Minister underscored that “trade is a ‘bridge to peace’, a natural ally of democracy and an investment that every government should make”. Bonino recalled that trade with Oman had grown over the last year by more than 20%, to peak at €330 million but, that “our economic partnership is still not fulfilling its potential”.
