The concert “Classico Napoletano” forms part of the celebrations marking the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of the city of Naples and was organised by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of Italy in Lyons, in collaboration with CIDIM – the Italian National Music Committee.
The duo composed of soprano Letizia Calandra and pianist Marcos Madrigal guided the audience on a musical journey through the history and the many expressions of the Neapolitan song, from the most renowned works of the Neapolitan popular tradition to the refined salon classics of the cultural élite of 19th-century Naples, by authors such as Salvatore Di Giacomo and Ernesto De Curtis.
