Libya – Terzi in Paris for international meeting on security

Minister Giulio Terzi attended an international meeting today in Paris on security in Libya. The meeting was chaired by French foreign minister Laurent Fabius, with the participation of his Libyan counterpart Mohamed Abdelaziz, and dedicated to security, justice and rule of law.

Resources for security

“There is much to be done” on the security front, Terzi underscored on the eve of the meeting, even though current conditions do not discourage Italy’s business presence, which “is maintaining continuity”. In any case, he added, the international community can make a “political contribution, and one of trust and assistance, to stabilizing the country’s institutional in all possible ways”, not least “in terms of resources and specific accords”. Resources too were a topic of discussion in Paris, as was cooperation among donor countries “on the rapid reinforcement of security in Libya”, Terzi concluded.
