An online event featuring writer Andrea Bajani, winner of the 2025 Strega Prize with “L’anniversario” (published by Feltrinelli), officially opened “La Piazza – Italian Literary Festival San Francisco,” organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco in collaboration with the cultural association “Librai in Corso.”
This is the first Italian Literary Festival in San Francisco, taking place from April 10 to 13, 2026. Seven authors of contemporary Italian fiction will offer Bay Area audiences a unique perspective on our literary production, continuing the legacy of the most esteemed writers in our centuries-old tradition. The Festival will open at the Italian Cultural Institute and then continue at the University of California – Davis and the “Pino” bookshop.
Guests include Carlo Lucarelli, Giulia Caminito, Federico Rampini, Ann Goldstein, Emanuela Anechoum, and Matteo B. Bianchi. In parallel with the main program, the section “La Piazza Kids”, dedicated to younger readers, will host writers Silvia D’Achille and Benedetta Faedi for meetings at various schools, namely “La Scuola International School,” “Saints Peter and Paul School,” and “Lowell High School” in San Francisco, as well as “St. Catherine of Siena School” in Burlingame.
