Italy replied to the comments of the panel of technical experts on Libya. It clarified that training activities were and are being carried out for the benefit of the Libyan Armed Forces. This action, without the provision of weapons, is carried out in line with the UN roadmap and jointly with our main partners that recognize Italy’s role and thank for it.
The same panel of UN experts thanked Italy for the inspection visit, mentioned in the report, carried out in Gioia Tauro in May 2025, during which the broadest and most transparent access was granted, thus demonstrating our full cooperation.
We remain convinced of Italy’s concrete compliance with the sanctions framework, also considering that the most recent UN resolutions introduce exemption measures for training activities, although these must be notified in advance under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence.
